Happy Birthday Masculine Gift Bag

Yesterday was my hubby's birthday and I realized I didn't have any masculine gift bags. Do you know how hard it is to figure out which images to use for a grown up man? After much hemming and hawing, I decided to pull out the Paper Lace cartridge and see what might fit the bill.

I cut the Lace 2 mesh above at 7-1/2". It was masculine looking without too much detail. Notice the heart mesh on this page also - that would be fun to use for Valentine's Day.

This Paper Lace cartridge also has some great word art with the "Will and Grace" font, like the "Happy Birthday" I chose here and cut at 1-3/4".

This bag was just the right size for the DVD collections I got him for his birthday (Spin City Season 1, Two seasons of Bones and one season of House). I like to pick up these bags at Joann's or Michaels when they are on sale.

Look for more birthday related items in the future here at Everyday Cricut. Melanie and I have discovered that while we have a million Halloween, Valentine's and Christmas cards, we are sorely lacking in birthday cards and bags. YIKES!

Sandcastle canvas made using the Fun in the Sun cartridge.

Hello, everyone!

Today I have a home decor piece made using the Fun in the Sun cartridge. This cartridge has a lot of great cuts including this sandcastle!

To make this I painted the canvas with aqua and sand colored acrylic paints. Then I cut out the sandcastle and popped it on with dimensional adhesive. Could it get any easier than that? I think not ;-)

Love Birds Card with Holiday Cakes and Twinkle Toes Cartridges

This A2 sized Valentine card (4-1/4" x 5-1/2") came together in a snap once I got my sizing figured out.

A tip for the newbies: Use the Fit to Length feature key on your Expression or Create to get just the right size you need on a project. I used that to determine what size to cut the label shape behind the birds.

Speaking of label shapes, can you believe this one came from the Twinkle Toes Lite cartridge? Be sure to look at your cartridges carefully - there are lots of labels and shapes on there that are parts of other images. This one was supposed to say "Tiny Dancer", if you cut all the layers.

I cut the label shape ("tinydncr") from Twinkle Toes at 3-1/4". Then, I ran it through the Cuttlebug using the Textile Texture embossing folder.

The love birds ("loveb") are from the Holiday Cakes cartridge and cut at 1-1/2". Remember that the Cake cartridges work in any of the machines and you can use the images to cut paper. Silver gems and glittered big brads are from Hobby Lobby. In the photo, it looks like the birds have wiggle eyes - they don't! The eyes are actually silver solid gems.

I added a red button on my bow, then tied it with Martha Stewart baker's twine and added my sentiment from Papertrey Ink. Button and ribbon by Papertrey Ink.

A finishing touch on the inside and we're done! Paper was by Core'dinations and Basic Grey's Bittersweet line.

Red Poppy wreath made using the NEW Giant flower cartridge.

Hello, everyone!

Today I have a home decor item that I would never have thought about making. However, I became enamored with the poppies and thought they would make a beautiful wreath. Now this project will take some time to make. It is NOT a quick throw together, but it is so worth it when it is done.

I made the wreath using the NEW Giant Flower cartridge. This is definitely one of my favorites of the release. Now this should not surprise anyone. You guys probably know by now that I love making 3D flowers!

I bought a pre-made willow wreath at Hobby Lobby. You will DEFINITELY need a hot glue gun for this project!

The flowers were cut out at 3 1/2".

You are My Superman Giant Valentine's Day Card

I made this super sized, Superman card for Brian two years ago and it remains one of my most favorite projects. I wanted to bring it back out today and show you guys this as it's something fun to do for that Superman in your life!

Some quick details about this card. First off, it is 18"x30" and mounted on a poster board folded in half. I think the big card is such a fun idea, especially to show someone how much you love them. I got this silver poster board at Joann's and thought it would make a nice background to the cityscape I had planned for the bottom portion of the card. I then adhered it to a two-sided poster board I had folded in half since I wanted the back to match - more on that later.

Using the Cricut Superman cartridge, I cut Superman6 at 10 3/4" for all the layers, including a shadow background. The shadowing is quite large (1/2" or so all around). I pop dotted him on the card to add some dimension as he flies over the city! Take note that even at this large size, the eyes come out really small - be careful not to lose them (see below):

The cityscape was made up of buildings from the Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up Cartridge. There are tons of goodies hidden on that cartridge - lots of accessories, city scape, western scape, space ship, boats, etc. Even if you don't like paper dolls, this cartridge has some real gems. You can see the handbook for it HERE. The cityscape was cut at 4 1/2". I cut the cityscape 8 times - two in black, two in grey and four in yellow. Using the hide selected contour feature, I was able to create a blackout for the shapes and that is what I cut in yellow, to provide window lights for the buildings. I cut pieces of the cityscape apart to form the different heights.

I cut the "Superman" word art from page 69 of the handbook at 4 1/2" and the "You are MY" font at 2". The font and shadow for the "You are MY" are also on this cartridge and match perfectly with the cartoon-like feel to the images. Above, you can also see the inside of the card, made up of a piece of poster board that was yellow on one side and blue (shown below) on the other side.

The blue matched better with the front and the overall concept, which is why I used this instead of just using a silver poster board. Also, the other side of the silver was gold, which I didn't think would match at all.

Baby Boy Shower Invitation with Cricut Craft Room

Hi there! This is Susan from Busy with the Cricky, one of the Saturday designers here at Everyday Cricut. I have had an eventful week which included a root canal and lots of time spent with my Cricut and Cricut Craft Room making shower invitations.

Today’s project is the invitation to the baby shower of a special mom to be, who just happens to be the daughter of a special friend! Our special mom to be is expecting her first child, a boy, this spring. I was shown a photo of the baby shower cake and designed the invitation to match. I used five cartridges to create this invitation: Close to my Heart Art Philosphy – for the ovals and scalloped ovals; George and Basic Shapes – for the rectangles; Creative Memories Stork’s Delivery – for the Blocks; Christmas – for the Teddy Bear; and Baseball – for the baseball.

The base card was cut with my paper trimmer from Craft Cardstock. The other elements were cut using a blue, white, tan and brown color palette which matches a popular Pottery Barn nursery ensemble. I used a Close to My Heart stamp on the popped oval for the “You’re Invited” sentiment. I added a touch of brown dot ribbon to finish the invitation front.

The Cricut Craft Room cut file is available at my blog, Busy with the Cricky. Look in the left column for the Cricut Craft Room cut file and select Baby Invitation. I had to cut fourty-four (44!!) invitations, so you may need to edit the numbers in the cut file to meet your needs.

Valentine Treat Box using Sweet Tooth cartridge

My week as Guest Designer has come to a close. Jeri here, from Bug 'n Me Creations. I've had a blast showing my creations and hope that I've left you with ideas for creating your own projects. For my final project today I wanted to create something with real substance. I think I've done it with this box from the Sweet Tooth cartridge. It's the toolbox cut. It doesn't look much like a toolbox when it's cut from pretty paper like this Bo Bunny double sided Valentine paper. If you want to use your box for a heavier treat you will want to make it thicker and stronger. I did that by cutting two layers of each of the boxes cut and then sandwiching lightweight chipboard between the layers. I wanted to make my box as large as the 12x12 mat would allow which turned out to be 9.5". My other suggestion when you're working with some of the 3-D cuts on cartridges is to make a sample first from white cardstock. Sometimes it's hard to tell what size the objects will be when assembled. I don't like to ruin any of my beautiful patterned papers, trust me, I learned the hard way to go with a sample first.

Here's a front view of the box where you can see how I decorated the front and embellished the handle. I cut the bee from Create A Critter at 1.75" and the sentiment from Simply Charmed at 1". The sentiment was cut twice so I could add the extra letter E to the word bee. On the cartridge the cut is actually Be Mine. I added a brown polka dot wired edge ribbon and crocheted flower to the handle.

I so hope that you have enjoyed my projects this week. It's been so much fun for me and I've enjoyed reading your comments. I've enjoyed all the personal emails I've received from those of you wanting to know more about my RV lifestyle and how I manage to create in such a small space. Valentine Lollipop Treat Holders

Jeri of Bug 'n Me Creations here again today as Guest Designer. I'm following through with my theme from yesterday using Create A Critter animals. Today for lollipop holder treats. These are perfect for classroom treats for Valentine's Day or to give your children or grandchildren. You could decide to decorate your lollipop holders in your favorite theme or style. The choices are endless using images from Cricut cartridges. I used Create A Critter because it's my granddaughter's favorite and these lollipop holders are for her school Valentine's Day party.

The design for these are very simple. I cut rectangles from pink cardstock measuring 3x4". Then I cut the fancy mats and frames for my critters to sit on. This cut came from the Sweethearts cartridge. The mat is in row number 5, key number three on the overlay with the shift key pressed. You'll get the frame by pressing shift, layer. I cut the frame and mat at 2.5". I placed my lollipops onto the pink rectangles and taped them in place. Just like yesterday's Valentine cards I printed my sentiments directly onto the white mats before assembling the cuts. After reading through the comments on my post yesterday, I noticed there were questions on how I got the sentiments onto the mats. I simply use my word processing program on my computer. I move my cursor down to about the middle of the page and then set the print to justify center. I type the sentiment then print it out on regular copy paper. Then I take my pre-cut white shaped mat piece of cardstock (not my Cricut mat) that I'll be placing my image on and position it over the printing, tape the cut in place and run it through the printer again. I added pink brads on each side of the mats merely for decoration. My animals are cut at 1.65" and attached to the mats. I used Tacky Tape to attach the the mats to the pink cardstock to ensure a strong bond since they had to go over the top of the lollipop sticks. Children's Valentine Cards

Hi Everyone! Jeri from Bug 'n Me Creations here again today as Guest Designer. Today I have some adorable Valentine cards perfect for children or for children to give to classmates. These are pretty simple cards so if you have kids get them involved in making them. Even if they are very young (3 or so) they love to push the Cut button on the Cricut. I started Cricut crafting with my granddaughter Payton when she was three. We spent many an hour in the craftroom creating until my husband and I started living and traveling in our RV last July. Now I send her very simple images that she can put together and glitter to her hearts delight. My cards today are 3x3" square. From a 12x12" piece of cardstock you can get eight cards. I cut the piece in half and then turn it long ways and cut at 3" to get four 3x6" pieces. Then do the same with the other half and score each piece in half and fold. I decided to use animals on all my cards so the perfect cartridge for that is Create A Critter.

I cut scalloped squares mats from the Elegant Edges cartridge at 2.75". I used my computer to print cute little sayings on the front of each square to go along with my images. Some of my sayings came from the phrases on the cartridge, some I got from looking at Valentine cards at the store, and some I just made up.

After printing the sentiments I inked the edges and added some doodling on the scallops with red marker. Next I cut my images from Create A Critter at 1.75", assembled the layers and added them to the front of each card.

To finish the cards off I added some faux stitching and doodling to each animal and some faux stitching with a white gel pen to the red cardstock. Home Decor For Valentine's Day

Hi Everyone! This is Jeri from Bug 'n Me Creations. I am so beyond excited to be this week's Guest Designer. I have a passion for papercrafting and I'm so happy to share it with you this week. Since Valentine's Day is less than a month away all my projects this week will be Valentine themed. I'm starting off the week with a home decor project. Of course, if you're a scrapbooker this design could easily be translated into a scrapbook layout by placing a photo where I've used an image from A Child's Year. I started this project in the upper right hand corner by making a rosette and placing a dimensional flower on it. I cut my flower from the Cricut Lite Bloom cartridge. It's the six petal flower in row four, key number 10. I cut eight layers, starting at .75" and going up in .25" increments to 2.5". I distressed the edges of each petal and curled the petals up before attaching the layers.

Next I cut the LOVE banner. For my banner I used another Cricut Lite cartridge, Sugar and Spice. I'm very partial to scallops and this banner had the delicate scallop on the bottom. My banner pieces are cut at 2". I wanted feminine looking letters to place on my banner and again I went with a Cricut Lite cartridge, Lovely Floral. I placed each letter on a scalloped oval which is also a Lovely Floral cut (first row, seventh key). The ovals are cut at 1.5" and the letters at 1.25".

My last Cricut cut on this project is the little girl with the dog tugging at her dress which was cut from A Child's Year at 3.25" and placed inside a frame cut from Elegant Edges.

Let's welcome our Guest Designer this week, Jeri!

We were so excited when Jeri from Bug 'N Me Creations said she would guest design for us this month! She makes really beautiful projects - wait until you see them!

I'm a papercrafter that's living her dream. I've been married for 38 year's, raised five children, been blessed with nine grandchildren, retired from elementary education, survived breast cancer, sold our home last year and literally rode off into the sunset. My husband and I are living in our RV and traveling around the country. Currently we're in Florida enjoying the warmth and sunshine for the winter. When hubby goes golfing, I start papercrafting. I love all forms of papercrafting---scrapbooking, home decor, and cardmaking. Unfortunately, I had to leave most of my supplies in storage and bring only the most important things---my Cricut machine and cartridges, a few punches and stamps, cardstock and a stack of 6x6 paper pads. I enjoy visiting scrapbook stores around the country as we travel and meeting other papercrafters.

roses roses roses gift bag made using the Art Philosophy cartridge and the January stamp of the month

Hello, everyone!

As you know, I have been in a crafting funk lately. However, Joy and I received an email by one of our followers about how she was not quite convinced on buying the January stamp set of the month yet. To that I say, challenge accepted!

I felt that I had to come out with something really pretty and something that was not a card. I wanted you guys to see that the stamp set is more versatile than you think! So with the help of my all time favorite cartridge, Art Philosophy, I made a cute gift bag for my niece and I used the stamp set to make an adorable tag. The best thing about that is it makes it super customized with my niece's birthday on it! Also, this would work for ANY event like anniversaries or weddings!

The bag is white and I added some light aqua and brown cardstock to the front.

Then I cut out these three roses using the Art Philosophy cartridge at 5 1/2", 4 1/2", and 3 1/2". The leaves were cut out at 3" and 2".

Now since this stamp set coordinates with the Art Philosophy cartridge, I was able to easily cut out the circles at 2 1/2" and 1 3/4" to work with the stamp set. Then I cut out the tag at 2 3/4" and adhered the circles to it after I stamped the center.

Hugs and Kisses Card with Cricut Tie the Knot Cartridge

I made today's 5" x 5" Valentine's card using some cuts from the Cricut Tie the Knot cartridge, ("lips", pg. 53), Cricut Wedding Solutions cartridge (frame sections) and Cricut Sweethearts ("hugs and kisses", page 36). All of these cuts are also on the Spring Fever Holiday Cricut cartridge.

Using DCWV glitter paper, I cut the "hugs and kisses" at 2-1/2" and mounted that on three frames that were cut at 2-1/2" (white), 3" (pink patterned) and 3-1/2" (black). This frame is actually the background to a "love" framed image. I ran the white section through the Cuttlebug using the Conversation Hearts folder for some texture.

I cut the lips at 1-1/2" using two different glitter papers (hot pink and red) and mounted that in the corner.

The whole "hugs and kisses" square was then pop-dotted onto the front of the card. Viola! Quick and easy card!

February 14th card made using Art Philosophy and the January stamp of the month.

Hello, everyone!

Today I have a frilly Valentines card today that I made using the Art Philosophy cartridge and the January stamp of the month. The best part about this card is you could pop off the focal point, add a safety pin, and you would have something you can wear!

I cut the white circle out at 2 1/2" and then stamped it. Then added the pink circle, which I cut out at 1 3/4".

I cut out the heart at 1 1/2" and the '14' at 1". Then I added ribbon around the edge as a trim. If you like this ribbon and want to get some for yourself, click here ==> Designer Red Ribbon Collection

"UR Hot" Chili Pepper Card with Cricut Fiesta

I have been on a quest to make unusual Valentine's Day cards this year so when I saw the chili peppers on this new Cricut digital cartridge called Fiesta, I knew I was in business. What husband or boyfriend wouldn't like this card? LOL! I apologize in advance for the "text speak" with "UR" instead of "you are" but it fit better on the 4-1/4" X 5-1/2" card. I used the Cricut Feeling Groovy Lite cartridge for the font.

Valetine envelopes made using the Good Old Days Imagine cartridge

Hello, everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was very busy, but what else is new? I use to be so good at prioritizing, but that skill has escaped me. All weekend long I knew I needed to get busy on projects for this week on both blogs, but did I do it...no. Typically I have them done long in advance (now, my Hello Thursday stuff is still done long in advance), but I just cannot get it together lately. I think it is because I may be getting a little burned out. Also, my mojo has left town and I am not sure she is coming back ;-) Fingers crossed I have a better week this week.

Now because I was low on time, I thought I would do a simple project that I have had lots of request for. Last time I made the envelopes using my Imagine you guys loved it! I got lots of sweet emails asking for more. Well, you have got your wish!

Today's envelopes are Valentine envelopes that I made using the Cricut Craft Room, my Imagine, and the Good Old Days Imagine cartridge.

Cricut Victorian Romance Just for You Card

This time, I have a masculine card from the Cricut Seasonal Victorian Romance cartridge. I think this is my new favorite Valentine's cartridge (for now, at least...wink!). Check out all the goodies on this cartridge below:

I cut the male silhouette from the cartridge and added a shadow layer by enlarging the bottom layer. I have included that in the file available for download below.

I pop dotted the male silhouette onto the card.

Be Mine Victorian Romance Card

Today's fun Valentine's Day card uses the new Cricut Seasonal Victorian Romance cartridge. Take a look at all the goodies on this cartridge:

As soon as I saw the hot air balloon, I knew I wanted to cut it out!

The banner above is also on this cartridge - I love all the layers to it!

Inside of the card above.

This stitched heart was cut from a die that comes in My Creative Time's latest Valentine stamp set called 100% Sweetheart. The stitches are actually cut out on the heart and I used black pen to give the illusion of real sewing stitches. I love how it turned out. The sentiment "Will you be my Valentine?" is also from this set (see set below).

Hello, everyone!

I have a very simple card today, but I think it packs a punch. The cuts are from the Art Philosophy cartridge. They are not layered so, it is just zip zip zip with the CCR.

Now the sentiment is from the stamp set that comes with the Rock the Block promotion. It was one of my favorites from the REALLY large set, so it was just a matter of time before I broke it out and used it!

I used an oldie, but goodie heart cuttlebug folder for the background texture. It's called Heart Blocks and it is on sale at cricut.com.

Cricut Chemistry Valentine's Card

It's a fresh new year and we'll get this week started off by heading straight into the next upcoming holiday: Valentine's Day!

When I saw the newest Cricut Craft Room digital release, Chemistry Icons, I knew it would make the perfect card, with a chemistry related sentiment. Chemistry Icons retails for $9.99, making each image $1.12. You can purchase it HERE. It is a digital only cartridge that is used in the Cricut Craft Room. Click HERE to find out more about the Cricut Craft Room, Provo Craft's free online design program.

This 5" x 5" card was put together quickly, with only two layers before the die cut and sentiment.

I embossed the dark pink background with the Candy Hearts 5" x 7" folder, that can be found in the Love is in the Air Cuttlebug folder set.

I created the sentiment myself on the computer - I had three different ones I was thinking of using (see below):

Finally, a Merry Christmas wish from a very patient cat named Lucy. My daughter dressed her in this Santa outfit and she was quite tolerant of it, which is unusual since she typically has the personality of Lucy from Charlie Brown (fussbudget, anyone?). We had to get a dog costume since Lucy is a little "fluffy". We thought it was hilarious.

Christmas envelopes made using the NEW Good Old Days cartridge and the Imagine.

Today I have a super simple project that I am sure someone else has done, but I was pretty proud of myself for thinking up the other night. After making those Christmas treat bags, I was wondering what else I could print on and envelopes came to mind. So, with the NEW The Good Old Days Imagine cartridge I did just that!

I tried both white and kraft envelopes and they turned out great! You could make non-Christmas ones and make a homemade stationary kit!

I recognized that one-eyed monster from the Cricut Bump in the Night cartridge and added him onto a folded gift tag. Take a look at all the fun papers on this Cricut Imagine Notebook Doodles cartridge:

I pop dotted this one-eyed monster onto the gift tag portion. I have a file below for him using the Imagine and the Cricut Craft Room. Or you can cut him at 3-1/2" using the Cricut Bump in the Night cartridge.

Above is a close up of the doodled paper.

I added a sheet of the regular doodled paper onto a notebook for a fun composition book. I am particularly fond of this design and I'll show you why below.

Below, "J+B 4Ever" applies to my husband and I (awwww....goofy, I know, but it cracked me up).

Christmas treat bags made using the Good Old Days cartridge.

Hello, everyone!

Today's post is a really easy one and perfect for those of you with little ones in school. I used the NEW Good Old Cartridge and my Imagine. This project is so simple. All you have to do is line up the bags on the mat and print the images directly on them. It looks so professional and people will think that you bought the bags pre-printed.

Also, I got the white lunch bags from Walmart and the glycine bags from Papertrey Ink.

Now this bag would not be crumpled if I had not had help from my little one. I know you guys with kids can totally relate, right? I actually got the idea to print onto the bags from the very talented Cindy Royal.

Another little tip is to make sure you take a paper towel or napkin to your cookies before popping them into the bags. As you can see, I figured that out the hard way ;-)

I printed out some of the paper that goes with the caritrdges and adhered it to the bottom.

I also stamped the sentiments on both bags.

Hello, everyone!

I wanted to pop in really quickly and post all of the new Hello Thursday releases. Joy and I will be posting projects using these new cartridges on all three blogs next week, so be sure to come check that out!

Elegant Gift Card Holder

Hi Everyone! This is Elizabeth from 217 Creations! Today is my final day here. I have had so much fun meeting new friends and sharing. Hopefully I can back soon to share more fun projects that stretch what your Cricut can do! This year I bought my sons' teachers and paras gift cards. They work so hard all year; it's the least I can do. I did not just want to hand them a gift card. I wanted them to know how special they are and how much I appreciate them. So I took some time to make these fabulous gift boxes.

I started by cutting a box from Spring Holiday Cards. The paper is BoBunny. I used by Gypsy to size so the sizing I used is a bit odd. If you are using any of your Cricuts traditionally, size it to 3.50. If you use Gypsy, DS, or CCR- You can download my Gypsy file for free on my blog HERE

I then folded the box. This box is pretty easy. The scoremarks can be seen but are not huge either. The box can be folded to open and close on the side or on the top.

I know several of my readers have stated how much they learn better in a video so I made you one on how to fold this box.

Once my box was folded, I made my pinecone. This pine cone is made from pear shapes from Gypsy Wanderings. If you own a Gypsy, you have this cartridge. If you do not have a Gypsy, many other Cricut cartridges offer pear shapes. Mine are sized at .75 and .85 inches. If you use another cartridge you may have to play with the sizing a bit.

Here is the video on how to make these pinecones. They look so real in person and they are really easy once you get the hang of it.

Next I cut the greenery from Straight From the Nest. I love this cartridge for any kind of nature cuts. The spiky greenery is cut at 2.50 inches. The long scrolled greenery is at 2.07 inches (remember f you are cutting traditionally, size up or down to the nearest 1/4 inch.)

I then wrapped my box up with some ribbon and added the greenery on top and then the pinecone.

The added elements on the top really make this look like a special gift.

Rosette Ornament

Hi Everyone! This is Elizabeth from 217 Creations. I am so excited to share today's project. It's an easy one but has so many creative options. Rosettes are all the craze right now. Of course I couldn't help myself but to buy the Cricut cartridge Ribbons and Rosettes. I am still playing with the cartridge. Today's project is made using Ribbons and Rosettes and Mini Monograms.

I started by using my Gypsy to weld two 3.59 inch borders together. I used the 2x3 border feature. i cut two of these out of Authentique double sided paper. I then scored every 1/4 inch.

Here is a close up of the paper. Isn't it divine!?!

Next I connected to two pleated strips. I used this flap to "wrap" over the edge of the second pleated strip.

Once I connected to two edges, I ended up with this cupcake looking circle.

Next I cut and stamped these circled form Mini Monograms at 2.5 inches. The sentiment is from Pink By Design Stamps "Olde Time Christmas".

Next I applied lace to the back of the circle with hot glue. I then hot glued rhinestones to the circle.

Next I flattened the rosette and applied a generous amount of hot glue to the center. I pressed the circle into the glue, sealing the rosette in place. I did this for both sides. I then tied small gold twine through the loops to create a hanger.

I am making a few of these to put on my tree. I think they would be awesome on gifts in lieu of bows or ribbons. Because both sides are done, they could also be hung from the ceiling to decorate.

Glittered 3D Christmas Trees

Hi everyone! This is Elizabeth from 217 Creations. I am your Guest Designer this week. I admit it. I addicted to glitter! But sometimes it can be really messy, especially in a big job. So when I read about Krylon Glitter Blast, I knew I had to try it. Yesterday's project was a example of using the product lightly to just "frost" plastic. Today's project is an example of opaque.

3D Cone Trees

I started by painting these cone paper mache trees from Michaels.

I then went outside and spray the trees with Krylon Glitter Blast. I then allowed them to dry.

I love this Glitter Blast! it comes in many colors and does not "fall" off as most glitter does as time goes by. I have found them at Michaels and Joann in the spray paint section. They run about $8 per can but you can always use a coupon.

Next I prepared my paper. I printed all the paper used in the trees from my Imagine using Christmas Wish. I really like the whimsical feel of this pattern. I chose various patterns, making sure to choose ones that are small in detail, since I knew I would be cutting into it. I also printed the front and back so my cuts would look complete when I applied them to the tree.

Next I cut the printed paper into these diamond shapes from Jasmine Cricut Cartridge. They are sized at 1.0, 1.25, and 1.5 inches.

Next I unlisted the help of my husband. I began rolling and curing each end (lengthwise) around a pen. We were rolling about 4-5 at a time. I ended up cutting 6 sheets of these diamonds. I lost count around 250 diamonds for the 3 trees.

Once all the rolling was done, I began adhering the diamonds to the trees, starting at the bottom moving upwards; going from largest to smallest to create a cascading effect. I used hot glue to adhere the diamonds.

Here they are completed! Large (blue one).

Medium (pink)

Small (green)

They have such great dimension! I am so in love with them, I made myself a set too since these are for my mom.

Snowflake Luminaries

Hi Everyone! This is Elizabeth from 217 Creations. I am your Guest Designer this week. Thank you Joy and Melanie for inviting me over to play! I love decorating my home for not only Christmas but also winter. This allows me to keep my decorations up into January. finding "Winter" themed home decor can be very difficult. When I saw these empty pails at Michaels, I knew they would be perfect for decorating the house.

I started by removing the handles- they just popped right off. Then I removed the lids and wrapped the edge with painter's tape to protect from the spray paint.

I cut several snowflakes from Winter Lace Cricut cartridge out of vinyl at 2.75 inches. I love this cartridge so much! Remember when cutting vinyl to adjust your settings to "kiss cut" the paper- I used 3 Depth, 3 Speed, and 2 Pressure. I added 3 snowflakes on each pail.

(On my old Expression, I used 3 Pressure, but on my E2 I had to take it down a notch so it would not cut through the backing)

Next I went outside and used Krylon Glitter Blast Spray to evenly coat the plastic on the outside. I love this Glitter Blast Spray! i comes in so many colors. It can go on sheer like this or over paint to make it more opaque. This color is Diamond Dust. I let the can sit for a bit and then using a fine point tool, I removed my stencils. Voila!

Then I wrapped each handle with the new Martha Stewart Eyelash Yarn.

I also stamped the top of the lids with these petite snowflakes from "Snowflakes" set from Pink By Design.

I reassembled the pails with their lids and handles. I added some rhinestones to the center of the snowflakes. Taking photos of these luminaries provided me quite a challenge. So I took a picture in my lightbox.

Then I shut off the lighting.

I also took pictures without any lights on. I used LED tea lights, so they have a bluish tone to the lighting.

Cricut Sweater Weather Simple Christmas Card

Today's quick and easy Christmas card was made using the new Cricut Lite Sweater Weather cartridge. This card is very rustic, simple and easy to make. The image of the trees and heart only had three layers. Take a look at the Cricut Sweater Weather cartridge images below:

I used the My Creative Time Mixed Holiday Sentiments Stamp set - Love this stamp set! Check it out below:

Here's a close up of the embossing done using the Cuttlebug and the Stampin Up! Square Latticed Texture folder. I love this folder as it does a great job creating a knitted look. I glued the tree and heart image together and then ran it through the Cuttlebug, essentially making the pieces meshed together to give it a "knit sweater" look. I embossed the background separately.

Here are the instructions:

1) Fold 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" sheet of kraft cardstock in half to create card base.
2) Emboss piece of 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" cream cardstock using the Cuttlebug and the Stampin Up! Square Lattice folder. Adhere to front of card base. Emboss piece of 3-1/4" x 5-1/4" red cardstock using the Cuttlebug and the Stampin Up! Square Lattice folder. Adhere to card front as shown.
3) Using the Cricut Sweater Weather cartridge, cut out the Tree Border at 2-3/4", all layers as shown. Glue together. Run assembled image through Cuttlebug using the Square Lattice folder. Using pop dots, adhere image to the front of card, as shown.
4) Stamp "All hearts go home for Christmas" sentiment from My Creative Time on cream cardstock. Trim to fit sentiment. Using red marker, draw heart on, as shown. Adhere to scrap red cardstock and trim create border. Adhere to front of card.

I love you rose card made using the December stamp of the month and Art Philsophy

Hello, everyone!

I wanted to show you guys the December stamp set of the month (which is only $5 with a purchase of $50) that coordinates with Art Philosophy cartridge (which is still available). I really love this one! That circular one is my most favorite. It is positively lovely!

Today's card is made using the Art Philosophy cartridge, the stamp set above, and my most trusty cuttlebug!

I cut the flower out at 3" and the circular shape out at 2" and 2 1/2". I stamped the 2" circular cut using the December stamp of the month.

Simple Merry Christmas Ornament card made using the Art Philosophy cartridge.

Hello, everyone!

Today I have a card using the Art Philosophy cartridge and the Holiday Wishes stamp set. Now if you have been wanting this great stamp set (that coordinates with the Art Philosophy cartridge), but have not ordered it yet today is the last day. I used Close To My Heart paper, cardstock, and ribbon. The paper is now retired though. This is quite unfortunate though because it is Joy's favorite!

I cut the ornament out at 3 1/4" and heat embossed the image using clear detail embossing powder.

I did not stamp a sentiment on the front of this card opting to have it on the inside instead.
