Green Slime Recipe:
Here's what you need:
-Elmer's Glue (do not get the cheap stuff - apparently, it doesn't work too well)
-Borax or any kind of laundry powdered soap (Borax is probably cheapest and can be found at the grocery store)
- hot and cold water
- food coloring - they make some in neon colors, which are fun
- any type of plastic spiders/bugs etc. - I got a big package of them for $1 at Walmart
- mason jar
1) Mix 4 oz. of glue with 1 cup water. Add food coloring to desired color.
2) Mix as much borax as will dissolve in hot water. I used about a cup of hot water and just kept adding borax and stirring until it got thick and no more would dissolve.
3) VERY IMPORTANT: Now take 1 cup of the glue solution and add slowly to 1/3 of a cup of the borax solution. It is very important to add the glue to the borax, pouring the glue slowly and stirring. Immediately, it should start to thicken up.
4) Add plastic spiders/bugs/etc. to slime. Place in mason jar and decorate jar.
I used the Cricut Frightful Affair cartridge to cut out this "poison" word art at 1-1/4" with vinyl in both orange and black.
Don't forget we are giving away a 9 Months cartridge!
How can you win?
1) Leave a comment below: Did you ever play with or make slime before? I used to play with it when I was a kid and when you bought it, it came in these little green trash can containers. I thought it was so fun. Eventually, the slime would pick up lint, hair, etc. and then it got really gross. LOL!

What a great mom you are geeze Oh Pete this really sound goulish and cool at the same time...is there anything you can't do??? I'll bet Halloween at your house is the best ever!! TFS!!!
Never played with slime before but when we were growing up we had the machine that made jelled insects. It was called Creepy Crawly something. You squeezed a solution into a metal mold and then put inside a machine and when it was done you had Creepy Crawlers of all kinds: beetles, spiders, worms, etc.

My brother and I used to love playing with slime. It was an indulgence my parents allowed, but I don't think they were as enthusiastic about it as we were. I've never made it myself and I'm sure my kids would love it...I'm not so sure I'm enthusiastic about it anymore!
Oh gross.. That's the worst when it picks up nasties and gets furry!!
I thought the slime was gross as a kid but I am pretty sure my daughter would love it now.

I am so happy you posted that recipe. I was just telling my daughter about making it at the Science Factory with my other grandchildren and wondering where to get the recipe. That bottle is perfect for the slime. Thanks for the recipe and the great idea to keep it in. We used to have ours in plastic bags. The jar decorated like that is the best idea ever!

I never played with slime as a kid, but I bet my grandkids would love it. Do you have to be concerned about getting it on floors or furniture? Will it stick and/or stain? Thanks for a fun recipe.
What a fun post, I have never made or played with slime before, but I think this is a great addition to any Halloween party (which I will be having next year, so I will have to keep this post) and I really like the poision label too. Thanks for this great giveaway also.

Oh yes, I played with slime. My experience was very similar to yours and I loved the cold feeling of the stuff and the way it made my hands look webby. I've made slime with my kids but I don't think they really appreciated it the way I did!
Slime? How neat is this? Thanks for the recipe. You are so creative
Slime is soooo much fun! We let the guests make their own at my sons last birthday party. In addition to a bit of food coloring, i picked up a bottle of glow in the dark paint. The slime glowed perfectly! It was a huge hit! I just found out on friday that my eldest daughter is going to make me a grandma! So would love to win the cartridge!
Oh how I love all the cool ideas for Halloween!!

Ewww, looks gross but I'm sure my daughter would love making and playing with the slime. TFS!
Yes, it does get really gross. I remember in 1982, my step dad was playing with some that was pretty gross and he spread it out over the palm of his hand (without anyone knowing) and "sneezed" into his hand. Then he said "Oh, look at this!" We FREAKED out! It was so funny!
I've made slime with my son before, but this is a great idea for the kids at our Halloween party! Thanks!
I am glad to know how to make slime.

Back in the dark ages when I was a kid---we got a thrill out of Silly Putty! It bounced and stretched and picked up the ink from the newspaper. It kept us entertained!
I'm sure the grandkids would prefer the slime--thanks for sharing!
What a fun Trick for all, big and small!
Nope, never played with slime, but thanks for the recipe!!

I haven't played with slime except those small samples from the gum ball machines. I have played with the green dough stuff from Dr. Seuss with cornstarch, water and green food coloring if that counts!
Me & my friends made slime out of cornstarch & water & had a great time playing with it. Mom couldn't figure out why she wasgoing through a box of cornstarch every two weeks...
I never played with slime, but my grandkids loved it and always thought it was funny when I wouldn't touch it...it was just to creepy. Thanks for the chance to win.
I can't say that I played with Slime. I always thought that it was totally gross. However, I think I will use your recipe and make some with my grandson. He will get a kick out of it.
Mari
Thanks for the recipe. I didn't play with Slime but my kids did and loved it. You are so right it really got gross after a while.
I am a grandmother and I love slime, esp. in neon green. Adding the bugs to it makes it even better...great idea ! My daughter recently made some for her sons and they had a great time making it and playing with it. Fun Stuff ! I would love to win your giveaway. I don't have that cartridge and I have ten grandchildren so it would definitely come in handy. Thanks for the opportunity to win it. I have been a follower of yours for quite a while. Love your emails.
Great project and thanks for the recipe!! Happy Halloween!!
Great project I am going to give it a try!!!

My girls played with slime. Found it on the bottom side of our sofa cushions...ummm wonder how it got there :) Thanks for the recipe, will be making some for our granddaughter.
My son, Zach, is now 16 (Ack!), but me and MY mom made Slime to play with, too. There used to be a game show on Nickelodeon where kids got "slimed", gallons of it were dumped on them. Imagine my pleasure (being facetious) when Zach started pouring it over his head! Seriously, though, how could you not just laugh out loud at that?
wow!!! Thank you for the chance to win that wonderful cartridge. We appreciate the slime recipe also, great idea for the kids to make!!

Fun idea! Thanks.
I do not plan to do anything slimy anytime soon. I leave that kind of gooey job to the kids, ha ha.
Thanks for the giveaway! No, I did not get to play with slime...lucky you. We rarely got to play with our Play Doh. Think Mom was afraid of the mess.

Love this idea. I'm too old to have played with slime :(
Sound like it would be fun to make with kids. We played with the slime in the trash can but never made our own.
Yay. Now I know how to make slime and blood. Only difference is that the blood is edible (and safe to eat...it's caocoa, corn syrup and red food coloring--the safe kind). Is there a recipe out there for edible slime?
Yes, as a preschool teacher that was one of the projects we made for the children...we had lot's of fun with that...I'd love to win the 9 month cartridge, hoping to have another grandbaby maybe this next year!
What a fun thing to make! Going to try this week!
Oh great I will try it this Saturday. Thanks so much!!
I am definitely going to be trying this. The kids should like this and they can help. :)
How very awesome, my son's been bugging me to make him slime since he made it in Kindergarten a couple years ago. Now I know how to make it and he's going to be so excited. Thank you thank you!!
Never played with slime.
Let's just say there was an incident with "Gak" (Nickelodeon's version of "slime") and my sister's hair.
great recipe, my kids will love it
Cute Jar. This has my daughter wanting to make some to play with. Thanks for sharing.

How fun! My mom used to buy us slime when I was a kid! She was a stickler for following directions and that line on the container about "may discolor fabrics" just about kept it from being too much fun. LOL!
kids would love this!
Fantastic idea! I love Halloween. Great job.
