Proud As A Peacock Elegant Card

Today's 5" x 7" card was made using just one cartridge, Straight From the Nest, and one paper line, Close To My Heart's Magnifique.  Love when a project comes together quickly and easily.  Both the word art and the peacock are on the Straight From the Nest cartridge.  I thought this would be a nice "congratulations" card (especially for an NBC executive...LOL!...I crack myself up...).

I used my Gypsy to weld the shadowed versions of the word art "Proud as a Peacock" and the peacock bird BUT it isn't necessary.  I chose sizes so you could also do this without the weld.

The peacock was cut at 2-3/4" and the "proud as a peacock" word art was cut at 2".
I used thicker pop dots to make the image really pop off the card.  To do this, I cut two shadow layers so I could pop dot in between them.   Pop dots were from Hobby Lobby.

I used the white Signo Uniball pen to outline the word art and peacock.  Here's a tip: BEFORE gluing the layers together, use your white pen to add the stitching.  Otherwise you could get some choppy areas...I'm always learning new tips, LOL!

Ribbon is from Michaels.

A quick strip on the inside and some cream colored paper finish things off.

Don't forget we are giving away an Elmo and Friends Holiday Cartridge this week!

How can you win?

1) Leave a comment below about fun things you are planning to do this summer (I'm going to the beach a lot!).
2) Subscribe or follow the blog.

That's it!

Winner will be announced on Sunday, June 3, 2012 and has two weeks to claim prize.  Allow 4-6 weeks for shipping.

I love the beautiful peacock colors in the paper! I couldn't help but notice you use white stitching on the borders a lot...do you recommend chalking or inking edges instead? I am very new to cardmaking and scrapping still. Any advice would be appreciated! Oh ... I hope to host a crafting party/crop with my friends this summer :)

So many great tips and ideas in your post today! That is a great card with very pretty papers. I like how you layered and popped the sentiment. The extra shadow layer on the bottom looks so well finished as well as the matching strip of patterned paper on the inside. Little things like that make such a difference. The white stitching is such a great accent.
Thanks for sharing! :)
