Here's a sweet and easy card from everyone's favorite
Cricut cartridge, Create A Critter. I just love this squirrel with the cute sentiment and acorn nuts and decided to make a standard business sized card out of him.
The card base is actually from the
Cricut Just Because Cards cartridge and is the card base that goes with the squirrel on that cartridge. I looked around, though, and found squirrel above and thought he was cuter so the whole project switched from being a
Just Because Cards project to a
Create A Critter project. See (rejected) squirrel below:
I love the card base from
Just Because Cards, though, because it has a nice scalloped edge that lines up perfectly!
The squirrel was cut at 3-1/4", the acorn nuts at 1-1/4" and the "nuts about u" at 3-1/4". I sized everything out in the Cricut Craft Room, so the actuals are a bit bigger but if you wanted to do this just using the machine and cartridge, those sizes should be fine.
I popdotted up one of the acorns to give some interest. I also inked the edges of the acorns and added those black lines. I wish I had used a cross-hatch stamp on them but by the time I thought of that, I had already added the tops and the stitching and so I didn't do it. Maybe next time.
White stitching, which I am addicted to, finishes off the card. The scallops on the edge are actually a
Memory Box die that I ran through the Cuttlebug two times.

absolutely adore this card! dare i say, that before my cricut, i bought my man squirrel themed cards (inside joke between us, he can't stand them - thinks they're plotting against him/all humans). now i can make him his own cards WHENEVER he wants! i think cindy loo has a more caricature squirrel on it...but i dont think i it has those cute acorns - which, btw, the shadowing and stitching you used on this card came out amazing. very 3-D, and it doesn't take much - just a little extra TLC. :) job well done on this one!!

This is one of my fav carts and I've 'created' many a critter where the critters were in tones of pinks for girls and then tones of blues for boys.
My daughter's friend had a monkey themed baby shower and I made a pink monkey card for her baby girl.
But I love the colors and naturality of your card in the colors intended. The acorns are just great. Love Love!

I love how you layered the critter and how you used the bright color as a shadow. I seem to shy from the layered cuts, but, this looks like something I could enjoy doing. I wonder what colors could be used as shadows and how that would make it look different but the same. Thanks for sharing. really cute. I used to have a sign that said, the mighty oak was once a nut like you....so, you could print that on the inside. lol
