Fun Kids' Cricut Moustache Straws

Isn't she beautiful - even with the silly mustache?  This is my daughter's Girl Scout troop leader, Jennifer, and she is a fabulous dynamo!

The girls were participating in an International Bazaar with the Girl Scouts and the country they had to do was Italy.  So, Jennifer asked if I could make some mustache straws.  How convenient that Provo Craft had recently come out with the Cricut digital Mustache and Glasses cartridge.  It retails for $4.99 and you use it with the Cricut Craft Room.  Check it out below:

My daughter decided she like the top left and bottom right mustaches and after testing out the sizing, I got to cutting.
Here they are (above and below).  All we did was punch a hole with a large hole punch and put a straw through it.  The straws stayed in the moustaches without any adhesive.
I cut over 100 of them and the girls put them together.  Then, at the Bazaar, they sold them for fifty cents each.  Almost all were gone at the end of the event.  They also sold pizza and chef's hats and sang "On Top of Spaghetti" during their show.

Happy Valentine's Day - thank you for reading our blog!  We love you!

Don't forget we are giving away a Cricut Imagine Kate's Kitchen cartridge this week - a $50 value!

How can you win?

1) Leave a comment below telling what fun treat you like for Valentines (gift, chocolate, cake, romantic dinner - keep it G rated, folks!  It's a family show here. LOL!).

How fun the moustaches are!!! I can picture my grandchildren giggling like crazy with these. I always used to love getting flowers or better yet, jewelry. But now that I'm much older "things" don't matter anymore. We rarely buy gifts for each other anymore. And I don't mind a bit. We are still so in love and this summer we will be married 38 years. Who needs things???

Favorite thing for valentines has to be a card where I know he actually read the sentiment before buying it for me. :-) He always brings me flowers. We cook dinner together - usually something we don't have weekly. This year it will be those huge crabs we can buy locally.

CricutMeHappy said...

The mustache straws are awesome. My daughter recently ran for 8th grade vice president and we used mustaches for her campaign. We cut them from vinyl using the Billionaire cartridge and she passed them out to students and teachers and we put them on her posters. She also wore one during her campaign speech. She won by a landslide! Teachers now request mustaches from me as treats for the students good behavior and the students behave just to get the mustaches. I will now include the mustache straws for the teachers! Thank you for the great idea!!!

As for my valentines day treat, I love to receive edible bouquets. The fruits are healthy and great to share with the family!

UnikeByYes said...

How fun is this idea!! ...We' ll since I learnt to love chocolate at a very early age, believe it or not, compliments of my dad ;) I am really fond of the sweet comforting treat ;)and most importantly of the memory... He used to buy bags of chocolate and filled favor boxes or bags with them for my siblings and I, and a dozen roses for my mother every year, no mather what..then when we grew older and married he even made a small treat box or bag for the children in law :) ...nowadays, my hubby took in the tradition on a less elaborate way,he goes and by the biggest box of our fave chocolate and brings it home so we can share it with the kids, whom just happen to be chocolate lovers too, I wonder why LOL! Also, I love to cook at least one very "hearty" meal for them, I heart shape at least one item in the menu.

Thank you for the inspiration and the chances to win, have a lovely Valentine's day!!

I have a wonderful husband of 23 years, and he is not crazy about holidays where you are required to get something. His motto is "an unexpected gift at an unexpected time is the key to a woman's heart!" She loves it, and I always have fun with them. As for the cartridge, my daughter has a baking blog, and her name is Kate. This looks like a fun cartridge! I would love to try it out making lots of different layouts and cards!

Love the mustaches. It amazes me the many different things you folks come up with to make.

What a great idea, Love it. We used to go out to dinner. But the restaurants are always so crowded. So we just have a nice dinner at home.

Cute idea with the straws, not sure that I would use it. Haven't bought any of the design from CCR yet, but sure love the program. Got new computer in Aug and so I never got the DS reloaded on it, now with CCR
who needs DS.

I love it when my husband comes home early from work & just spends the rest of the day with me! It makes me feel amazing when he tells me he the only thing he wants is to be with me! This year he bought me "Aztec Fire" tea from Teavana - it's outrageous!! I highly recommend it!

I love the 'stache straws, btw, & I bought the cart just to make those! Haven't made them yet, so I was thrilled to see how awesome yours turned out! Great job, as always!!

I don't receive cards, presents or big red boxes of candy. But, when hubby walks thru that door with the white signature box with the gold seal on it - from the best bakery in town - that's when my Valentine Day starts. Chocolate turles, rasberry/chocolate mousse cups, and their signature orange/white cake - well, it makes your mouth water.

I almost forgot about my fun Valentine treat, but besides the mushy cards I make miniature cookie cakes with my small heart shaped pans! When my husband walked out the door today I placed the warm heart shaped cookie in his hand and told him I was giving him my heart! Awww...

I picked up a red velvet cake several years ago when I was caught last minute without a dessert planned for V-Day and I had no idea my hubby had never had it before. It was a huge hit and now my hubby and son start campaigning for it weeks ahead! LOL!
