Winter Layout

Hi, it's Katie again, from Crafting with Katie!  Today I have a fun winter layout for you.  I came across these pictures of my son playing in the snow on one of our trips to Lake Tahoe ten years ago, and I thought they would be fun to scrap as winter is heading our way again.

My title is cut at 1/2" (yes, the real size is much bigger than that) from Graphically Speaking.  It didn't come with a shadow, so I cut it again in navy, and offset it a bit to create my own.  The cute little bird is from Winter Woodland, cut at 1 1/2".  I used a little black Glam Rock for his eye.

I've been looking at a lot of scrapbooking blogs lately, and I've been trying to incorporate some design elements that are described.  On this page, I created a visual triangle with pops of red.  That's how the bird came to be.

  

The second pop of red came in the form of a button adhered to this pretty snowflake cut from Winter Woodland at 6".

To complete my visual triangle, I added some red to the girl snowman.  The snowmen are cut from Winter Woodland at 3".  It was hard to cut the eyes so tiny, so I used the black Glam Rocks again.  The scallop and circle are also from Winter Woodland, cut at 4".  I cut the circle twice, once in the snowflake pattern, and again in white.  I then trimmed off some edges of the white circle to create my snow.

I'm starting to stamp more on my layouts to give them some more character.  I love this "very HANDSOME" stamp from My Creative Time's Camera Shy.  I stamped it onto a ticket cut at a 1/2" from the Art Philosophy cartridge and tucked part of it under my photo mat.  To emphasize my journaling, I stamped some brackets from My Creative Time's My Journaling stamp set.
