Route 66 Birthday Bag with Nifty Fifties Cricut Cartridge

 I just can't quit making these gift bags!  Well, when you have four birthdays jammed together in the summer, it's easy to start making a lot of bags.  Today's bag was made using the Cricut Nifty Fifties cartridge.  I just love that cartridge - it's fun, unusual and funky.  I made this bag for my dad who turned 76 on Monday.  I thought he would like the Fifties colors and imagery.

 To start, I cut the "Route 66" die cut out at 4", including the white shadow layer and then pop dotted it on the front of the bag.  "Get Your Kicks" word art was welded to the letters "o" and "n" using the Gypsy.  The "Get Your Kicks" was sized at 2".

 I had a gift card I wanted to attach to the bag and I used this great new metal die called Embossed Gift Card Holder Die from My Creative Time.  Here's a link to pick one up for yourself:  Embossed Gift Card Holder Die.  So quick and easy.

I love the decorated edge on this die.  Also, check out the slots to put the gift card into the holder.  I just put a glue dot on the back of the card and I was set.

 What paper is this?  It's by Club Scrap and the line is called Cruisin'. I love how it's just the right colors for the era.  Ribbon is by Papertrey Ink.

Fortunately, I found some matching tissue for the inside to finish off the bag.  Dad really liked the bag (relief!) and we had a fun lunch as a family at a great bar-be-que restaurant here in Dallas called Spring Creek Bar-be-que.
