Back to School Postcards

Hi, it's Katie again, from Crafting with Katie.  Before I start, I want to thank all of you for your welcomes and sweet comments yesterday.  You made my day!  Today I have a fun project to share with you that I made for my incoming students.  It's a back-to-school postcard that I plan to mail the week before school starts, welcoming each child to my classroom!  If you're not a teacher, no worries.  Any child would love to receive a card like this from a mom, grandma, aunt, etc. on that special first day of school, or it could even make a great card for a teacher!

This adorable 3 1/4" schoolhouse is from the Cricut Lite Recess cartridge.  I love the easy layers on this cartridge!  The cute little "half ticket" shape that I used for my sentiment is cut at 1 1/4" from the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.  One of the main reasons I bought this cartridge was for all of the fun little framed shapes that are perfect for sentiments.  Don't forget, you can still order Art Philosophy from Melanie's Close to My Heart page.  The actual "Back to School" sentiment is from the My Creative Time My Teacher Rocks! stamp set.  Click here for ordering information.

I love the paper clip patterned paper that I used for my background, but I couldn't find just the right paper to coordinate with it.  Luckily my Imagine came to the rescue!  I printed this alphabet pattern on kraft cardstock using the Teresa Collins Black & White cartridge.

Since I had to cut twenty of these little schoolhouses, I used my Gypsy to plan it out in a way that would not waste paper.  You can see how in this video:

Be sure to stop by my blog today.  I have another sneak peek of one of the My Creative Time stamp sets that is being released this Friday, AND Emma has donated the My Creative Time "My One and Only" stamp set shown below for me to give away.  Leave a comment on my blog for a chance to win!

Recipe:

Papertrey Ink Kraft, Dark Chocolate, & Harvest Gold Cardstock
Core'dinations Jet Black & Scarlett Textured Cardstock
The Paper Studio "School Days" Patterned Paper
Basic Grey "Life of the Party" Patterned Paper
Papertrey Ink Woodgrain Impression Plate
My Creative Time "My Teacher Rock!" Stamp Set
Papertrey Ink True Black Ink
Imaginisce Glam Rocks

Make sure you pop on over to Melanie's blog this week because she is doing BOX and BAG tutorials all week long using the Art Philosophy cartridge. Also, if you want to buy the Art Philosophy cartridge you can do so by clicking HERE!

Be sure and check out Joy's and Melanie's personal blogs for more creative goodness at Obsessed with Scrapbooking and Courtney Lane Designs! Have a great day!
