Here's my new solution! I saw these plastic tumblers on the Cricut Circle Board (thanks Scrapalette and Clever Someday, as well as many others!) and ran out to find some for the family. Well, after going to 3 Dollar Trees, 1 Dollar General and finally, Walmart, I found these. Walmart had them up in the seasonal department and then back with plastic wear in the kitchen accessory aisle. They were around $4.50 each. The colored centers come on each tumbler and say "wash, repeat". I loved the bright fun colors, especially the Cricut green!
There are 50 different Cricut heads on the Cricut Decals cartridge - many are doing sports, dressed up in hats and one even has a moustache. They are super cute!
I cut out Melanie's name using the Cricut American Alphabet cartridge that is also preloaded on the new Cricut Anniversary Expression 2. Her name was cut at 1-1/2". I love this swirly font! This cartridge comes with three fonts - this swirly one, the plain one that make up the rest of the letters and finally, one enclosed in a circle.
Next, I made one for my mom! Using the Cricut Decals cartridge, I cut two dogs and a cat at 2". Her name was cut with the Cricut American Alphabet cartridge at 2".
Kitty decal cut at 2". There are lots of cats and dog decals on this cartridge that are so cute!
Dog decal cut at 2".
Another dog decal cut at 2".
Here is the tumbler for my daughter....she loves cats so I chose some of the other cat decals. She also loves teal so I thought this would be perfect.
Now, a few tips and information:
1) Once you have the layered image on the transfer tape, go slow! It's easy to tear the fine pieces. Use the wooden stick and also a paper piercer to be sure you get out all the bitty pieces.
2) Bigger solid pieces lay down better than skinny pieces. I had no problem with the Cricut head and the cat and dog decals because they were so solid.
3) For the names on top, I would do a couple of letters at a time, then shift the glass and do the next few letters. This worked well in getting them lined up nicely.
4) The new Cricut Anniversary Expression 2 puts letters close together, as you can see above on the tumblers. I would lay out the first couple-three letters and then shift and put down the next letters approximately the same distance as the first few.
5) The new Cricut Anniversary Expression 2 has a setting for vinyl, making it so easy to use!
6) Finally, these are handwash only so I am hoping the vinyl won't have any trouble.
Here's the video on how to layer vinyl (if you can't see it, click HERE):

What a fab idea :) but poor Kitty where is he going to get his drinks now? lol
I was wondering how vinyl would work on plastic. Do you know the best way to make wall clings with layers? I'm thinking about making some for a nursery using 3 Birds on Parade. Would you do a video on that . . . please?
WOW, WOW, WOW!!! Amazing!!! Love the idea!

Great Idea and once again so unique you must dream in CRICUT....you go girl!!!

How cute, what a great idea.
Guess I'll be buying tumblers today! Very cool project!
Very cute glasses! I occurred to me if you got some glasses from the dollar store you could etch them and make them dishwasherable (is that a word?). If you wanted them to go in the dishwasher that is.
Great project. Loved the colors.

great idea. i hate having all those glasses to wash all the time.
All those projects look Great!
Anxiously awaiting the arrival of my E2 so I can make items like that!
Project of the month! Love these! But they wouldn't work at my house, Alice (my fluffy buddy)is obsessed with straws!
How cute. I'll be making these for my grandchildren.
Our cats used to do the same thing, alas, they are to old to even bother.
Very Very cute! I love the bright colors :) Thanks for the chance to win the cricut cake :)
~jennifer
Those are so cool! I am so mad now that I didn't buy some of these cups when I saw them at my local $1 store! Thanks for the great idea!
Those are awesome! I always look at those tumblers in the store. I will have to get some for this summer. When everyone is home, they go through cups like crazy. We also have two cats that like to sneak up on our island as well. Thanks for such a great idea!
These are so cute!! I have seen these and now I really need to get them :)
These are so adorable. No cat here but I have two young boys who are into spilling everywhere. May have to invest in these. Thanks
I had to laugh because this happens in our house too. Nothing is untouchable by our cats. Love the cups! Very cute and a great solution.
These are so cute! Thanks for the tip about hand washing--I was wondering! Please update us as to whether the vinyl stands up to hand washing.
What a great idea...and so very eco friendly. Love this project! I'm heading to WM now!
I just love this and love your cat! Yes, mine does the same thing. Do you have a pudding and ice cream problem as well? My cat will eat pudding and ice cream. He loves to finish it up when you are done but heaven forbid you leave the room or the cat takes over! lol Now if only you could figure out an idea to stop that problem!
Thanks again!
Linda Marino
Your $4.50 investment is now priceless. What a wonderful idea for those trying to go green and use fewer paper/styro products. Or those just trying to go Cricut green. Keep those home projects coming. Thanks!
These are soooo cute. Love the colors. Clever idea!!
Very cute project! Thanks for the tutorial on layering vinyl.
lol the cat. Great idea. Thanks
Oh this is a great idea! Cats are so funny...they love water in anything other than their own dish!
Really like they way you personalized them; I'm sure the ones getting them will really like them. Clever way to save on the dirty glasses! That would be my Yorkie drinking out of the glass; she gets into EVERTHING!!!
Linda Koenig
I love working with vinyl.. great idea with the cups.. I have two cats so I see things like that from time to time.. lol
Thanks so much for the vinyl lesson. The cups are really cute as is the cat. Thanks

Great idea I'm gonna use this as a vball team gift!
These are so cool, i love them. Cute cat. TFS.
Great idea using tumblers! And so cute!
Great project with vynil! Thks for the idea. Love the decals in the E2.
Very nice igea, the kids would love having their own personalized tumbers. Thanks for sharing.
Darling - and what a great idea to save using so many cups (we can relate at our house :) ~TanyaS
Now THAT is a clever idea for the cups. We have the same cups at home. This would also make a great gift idea for someone hosting a BBQ or something.
Very cute... the cups too. lol
I leave a glass of water on the kitchen counter for my cats to drink from. And now they don't bother our drinks. I tried it next to their food bowl, and they wouldn't use it, so on the counter it went. I know I know....I can hear you all saying YUCK...on the counter!.... You do know they go there even though you don't want them to right? So why fight it... They're happier, and so am I. Great project Joy, TFS
Jessica
Great projects, thanks for the video; I'm headed to look for tumblers today!
Those are so fun! Love that font!!! The video is great. TFS
Love these practical ideas. This would make a great birthday party treat!
Cute idea!
These are great and would be perfect as a gift. I hope you'll let us know if the the vinyl lifts with washing. If not, yay!
Very cute idea:)
I love this project, jealous that I don't have the E2 and these carts! I'm always looking for ways to ID things as I have 5 kids:)
My cats (5) don't drink out of glasses but this is a really cute project. How individual!!

Great idea! We have the same problem- with the cat- in our house too!
I had the same problem @ my house when the girls were growing up.If I had a cricut 10 years ago I would have done the same thing!
Great idea can't wait to watch video.
At my house, we just drink from the same glass! My two cats pretty much have the run of the house! Your personalized glasses are a great idea for a party too. Cheryl G
I can relate to the kitty drinking out of the glass. This happens all the time at my house. I ordered some of these glasses off of QVC a few weeks ago and now I know just what I'm going to do with them. My grandkids will be so happy they each have a glass for them. Thanks for sharing the GREAT idea.
Cuteness! (Maybe if the cat had one with his name on it, he wouldn't drink from the others!)
Cute! Love your cat, too!
Such a cute idea. I love it. I may have to give this a try if I can find the cups.
These are adorable and so is your cat!!!
I love the cups!! I don't have cats but these are great for the summer when outside. I have had vinyl for a while but have not used it yet maybe I will have to get some cups!! Thanks for sharing.
cups? 7 people now in the house, 24 cups a day. how's that? haha.
Awesome I haven't worked with vinyl yet..however .. this is sooo
interesting and looks unbelievably
easy... love the animals...
That photo is too funny! Our cat hasn't done this yet - although I did catch her licking out my son's cereal bowl once.
What sweet cups! I love the way you personalized them for each person. Great job!
Love the glasses! Great job! I think I will have to use that idea! The kids will love it! Thanks for sharing!
These tumblers are really cute. Thanks for doing the leg work and finding them for the rest of us. Also thanks for the video. I'm just beginning to work with vinyl and I need step by step directions with lots of pics! Great prize this week. Best of luck to everyone!
I love this project! I can't wait to get my E2. Vinyl is the best stuff ever!
I LOVE THIS!! I can never get enough vinyl for decorating and personalizing. I have three dogs and they HELP the cat! Ah - the best laid plans of mice and men. Great - great project! TFS!!
That is such a great idea - watched the video and made the process seem so easy -- think I will try it.
Thanks for the great give away
oh yea - the cat thing happens to me
LOVE these tumblers. I saw them on the Circle board and knew it was something that I had to make. Thanks for the video and the tips on layering. papermemories4u @ yahoo .com
Cute, Cute, Cute!!! Man, those tumblers sure have been popular on our mb haven't they????!! I've been holding off making mine because I wanted the clear ones but I'm liking the Cricut green one...of course!!! Maybe I'll start with that one until I find the clear kind...I've got several Circle events coming up!!! Thanks!
These tumblers are awesome. Such a fun and personal idea. hugs- Glora
Thanks for sharing! Have never tried that but I will now!

These are so nice! I might think about making something like this as gifts for family and co-workers. Thanks for sharing!
Love this idea! I'm heading out right now to Walmart! Thanks!!!
Too funny! Clever idea with the tumblers and vinyl. Hopefully, that will solve your issue and decrease your dishwashing.
Great video. Thanks for the tips!!
Get video. Love vinyl projects. TFS
Great project! Perfect as Earth Day is Friday--reuse!! :)
kristyscraps@sbcglobal.net
Love the idea, the tumblers turned out so cute!
My cat also like drinkging out of people glasses & cups. We also find her sleeping in the bathroom sink. Cats are wonderful.
Love the personalized tumblers, but kitty needs one too.
Great idea...except at my house I have about 20 glasses lying around...dishwasher is empty? My daughter loves to leave her glasses with a little dab of chocolate milk in the bottom...after it sits for a while it impossible to remove!! ARG!
that happens to me all the time. Except my cats like to knock over the water glass in the process of drinking it. Great video.

What a great project! Thanks for sharing and for the tips on cutting and layering the vinyl.
That is such a cute idea, and also love the cat captured on pics. Thanks again for more wonderful ideas!
Super cute project. And definitely a good way to keep kitty out of your drink. :)
Love your idea! We have those feline critters that like to do that too Lol.
Rachelle
What a FANTASTIC idea! The only downside is that they are hand wash only, but other than that - love 'em!
These are real cute, I might have to stop at the store and grab some tumblers ;)Also the cards you made with the Expression @ are very pretty.
Thanks again for sharing with us, have a lovely day!
Super cute project! TFS
This is so awesome!!! I just bought some similar tumblers this weekend for my mom, daughter and I. What a cool idea to individualize them and a great way for me to finally try my hand at vinyl.. .I have been very intimidated at the thought of vinyl. LOL I love the font...another reason I need to get the E2. :))
BTW - the brand I bought is COPCO and I found it at Joann's. My mom saw them at Bed Bath & Beyond as well. They have the coffee cups with lids as well.
TFS!!

Wow!! Great project and super cute! The vinyl should do great with hand washing. TFS.
Kathryn
I have got to get me some of those Cups. But I feel bad for your really cute chubby Kitty. It's really going to be upset when he can't drink out of the glasses anymore. Maybe just leave one glass out for him. :0)
Great project and what a great idea for gifts. Everyone can use personalized glasses. Love the cat as my cat does this too, even thou he has fresh water every day.
Thanks for sharing the great project!

Very clever...great for around the pool this summer. Thanks for highlighting the vinyl video too...nice for some of us "newbies".
adorable! My cat used to do that - whenever I would put a glass of water - he would try and put his paw in it! Glad he is no longer doing that!
Sooooo CUTE! I really like the idea of this and bought a tumbler a couple of months ago for my crops every month.... The video was helpful and now I think I'll try and tackle this project too! :o)

These are so cute!!! May have to give it a try!

These are so cute! In my house, we have dogs that do the same thing! They especially love tea! LOL. Makes them hyper and they run all over the house, which is kind of chaotic when you have 2 chihuahuas and a great dane who thinks she is a chihuahua! LOL. Good times!
Love these tumblers.
And I REALLY love the alphabet font.
Is there an actual American Alphabet cartridge I can buy?? Or is it ONLY available preloaded on the Anniversary E2??
Thanks! ;)
Your kitty looks like my Max. I have him in my videos.
I love your creations today. What a great idea. Well you always have great ideas. I would love that cartridge. I just have to want a while to add to my collection.
Super cute.......love those images too!
'smiles...Tammy
These are sooooo cute!!! Have to try to find them locally.
We have two cats as well but this idea might do the trick for not getting a glass everytime you come in for a drink especially this summer when the kids are staying home.
Oh wow! What a cool idea! Yes, our cat goes after milk, water .. food .. ugh!! I love this idea and since I do daycare as well, this would be a really fun way to do the kid's cups!! TFS!
Fabulous idea! It happens at my house all the time~TFS
Aren't they adorable - the cups and the kitty! Ours would put their paws in to scoop out the water - why - because they are cats and they could!
This is a great idea for little one, too. Seems they can never remember who's glass is who's!
Thanks for sharing - Blessed Easter! Donna

What a cute project! Thanks for sharing!
My cat does the same. LOL. But with summer coming and a million kids in and out of my house, I usually write their names on plastic cups. This will be my three-day weekend project. I'll post my pics later. :O)

What a great idea. My kids do the same thing - we don't have a cat though - because they're afraid of getting cooties! Thanks for sharing.
So cute!! Have a dog and cat that like to know what everyone is drinking...
This would also be a great party favor.
I so need to learn to work with the vinyl - it scares me. This seems like the fun project to try on. Thank You!!!
Love these tumblers!!! I'll have to hunt some of those for the Grands! :)
How cute! I have that same cup to use in my scraproom as I am so afraid I will just knock over a regular cup and mess up my papers or worse my computer.
I have not yet tried cutting vinyl on the cricut yet.
Great idea! Luv the cat, have one as well and he sure has to check things out as well...
Love the decals...thanks for the tutorial...i always want to cut vinyl but afraid....tfs....
Love the idea of the glassesand you made them look so cute!!
that was a cute solution
Love to see that someone else's cat gets on their counters and they are not afraid to show people. Very cute idea. Finally I know how to use my Expression to cut vinyl. Has anyone used it on their walls and taken it down? Does it leave a residue?
cute project !
What a neat idea, thanks for sharing all your tips!!
how cool! I am sitting drinking out a pink one of those right now! I need to spruce it up, but I have never cut vinyl before. thanks for the tips
I am a follower, and yes, I understand about the cat taking a drink. I have had cats all my life, and some cats do this more then others. I had one who would knock over vases filled with flowers just to get at the water, even though they had a clean, full bowl just for him! :-)

I love this project! This is so cute! Thanks for sharing.
I did some cups from the $1 store last year with my kids names on them and a little design. I never thought of layering the designs ! Thanks ! I have run my cheep cups through the dishwasher many times and not had a problem. I wonder how it will do layered ? ? Thanks for sharing your ideas !
I LOVE working with vinyl.....TFS!!!!
I LOVE this project!
These are so cute! I'm just getting started working with the vinyl, and the video on layering is so helpful. Thank you!
How absolutely COOL! I love it. I'm going to make some of my own!
Great project, very cute glasses. I think if you use washable vinyl, there is no problem with it coming off or getting ruined when you wash your glasses. I used the washable vinyl on water bottles for my daughter's basketball team and it stayed on fine through the season. I am a little nervous about layering vinyl, will have to try it, thanks for the video.

Absolutely Amazing!! My kids will love these~
I've been wanting to try working with vinyl, so thanks so much for the video!! :) Love the cup project as well, very cute.
Those are too cute, and something I need so bad!!! My sink is always full with glasses and cups!! My 9 yr old changing clothes and gets a new cup once an hour plus my maltese puppy thinks he is human like your cat!! Any new info on E2 on price or do you think they will run out day 1 I am hoping they last at least a week till I can buy it!!
Happy Crafting!!
