Here's my new solution! I saw these plastic tumblers on the Cricut Circle Board (thanks Scrapalette and Clever Someday, as well as many others!) and ran out to find some for the family. Well, after going to 3 Dollar Trees, 1 Dollar General and finally, Walmart, I found these. Walmart had them up in the seasonal department and then back with plastic wear in the kitchen accessory aisle. They were around $4.50 each. The colored centers come on each tumbler and say "wash, repeat". I loved the bright fun colors, especially the Cricut green!
There are 50 different Cricut heads on the Cricut Decals cartridge - many are doing sports, dressed up in hats and one even has a moustache. They are super cute!
I cut out Melanie's name using the Cricut American Alphabet cartridge that is also preloaded on the new Cricut Anniversary Expression 2. Her name was cut at 1-1/2". I love this swirly font! This cartridge comes with three fonts - this swirly one, the plain one that make up the rest of the letters and finally, one enclosed in a circle.
Next, I made one for my mom! Using the Cricut Decals cartridge, I cut two dogs and a cat at 2". Her name was cut with the Cricut American Alphabet cartridge at 2".
Kitty decal cut at 2". There are lots of cats and dog decals on this cartridge that are so cute!
Dog decal cut at 2".
Another dog decal cut at 2".
Here is the tumbler for my daughter....she loves cats so I chose some of the other cat decals. She also loves teal so I thought this would be perfect.
Now, a few tips and information:
1) Once you have the layered image on the transfer tape, go slow! It's easy to tear the fine pieces. Use the wooden stick and also a paper piercer to be sure you get out all the bitty pieces.
2) Bigger solid pieces lay down better than skinny pieces. I had no problem with the Cricut head and the cat and dog decals because they were so solid.
3) For the names on top, I would do a couple of letters at a time, then shift the glass and do the next few letters. This worked well in getting them lined up nicely.
4) The new Cricut Anniversary Expression 2 puts letters close together, as you can see above on the tumblers. I would lay out the first couple-three letters and then shift and put down the next letters approximately the same distance as the first few.
5) The new Cricut Anniversary Expression 2 has a setting for vinyl, making it so easy to use!
6) Finally, these are handwash only so I am hoping the vinyl won't have any trouble.
Here's the video on how to layer vinyl (if you can't see it, click HERE):

And I thought my cat was the only one! Great idea! Now a solution for bowls and plates! I'll be using excess amounts of seran wrap for my food and cakes until then!
Love that cat and the glasses too! A friend of ours has a giant margarita glass her cat drinks from!
Thanks for the project idea,
Chris
These are awesome. Thanks for the video. I wanted to see how the vinyl was layered.
I got such a kick out of the kitty drinking out of the glass. Wonderful tumbler solutions ... That vinyl is SUCH a good idea!!

Thanks for the vinyl tips and using the transfer tape. I never quite understood how the transfer tape worked. This made it perfectly clear and now I will try to cut some vinyl I bought last summer.
I love the tumblers. They are awesome. The decals cart is too cute. Thanks for sharing a cool project.
Cool project! Love the tumblers. Let us know how the vinyl works out with the handwashing. Thanks for sharing.

So clever! Love this cart. TFS!
I LOVE this idea! I am going to have to go out and see if I can find some of these cups. And yes I've seen the same issue in our house but mostly they forget about having cups and get more and more. This would be a great way to remind them somehow. I will check my walmart for some.
That new font looks gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your projects with us.

Those are fantastic and cute. Do you think the vinyl will bubble up from the condensation on the cup? Just wondering. I hope not- they are too cute!
What creative ideas!!
I love the lettering you used on the tumblers - sooooo cute :)
morose44 at hotmail dot com
Thanks for the video- that helps a lot! The only question I have is: where do you get clear transfer tape? I've only ever seen the stuff that they use for wall decals and you can only sorta see through it. The clear stuff would be sooo much easier to work with!
What an awesome gift idea!

Cute Idea! I always use reusable tumblers but I never thought to use my cricut to decorate them! Awesome :)
Super cute! Love them. I need the cricut decals, but just can't justify buying a new machine!
Super cute! I need Cricut Decals but just can't justify buying a new machine when the two I have work perfectly fine!
love these! I haven't used vinyl yet, this may be my first project, thanks for sharing : )
Thanks for the vinyl tutorial, I have not tried vinyl yet. I see it in my future. Those cups are great. We have way too many water bottles in our fridge with sharpie initials on the lid (we do reuse the bottles), but the cups would be great and possibly eliminate some of the clutter.
TFS.

Gotta do this for Easter!! Walmart here I come! Thanks for always having such great ideas to share!
great idea for kids' cups. They turned out super cute!
Great idea for the cups. I'll have to pick some up and make them for my family!
I've seen these cups but passed them by in favor of the plain clear ones...but the band might make it easier for my 6 year old to hold onto and I can still put his name on them!
This is a great project. My daughter will love this...Now I have to go buy the tumblers!
Super idea for drinking glasses...I've used the vinyl to decorate my truck for my daughter's high school homecoming parade...that was a few years ago and the "paw prints" are still there (many, many car washes and still going strong)...their mascot is a bulldog.
Love using vinyl and really love your ideas!
tanya-thomfam@inreach.com
What a cute idea! I have cats too, and one of them like to stick his paw in any unattended cups :-)
What a great idea. These would make great gifts.

I love the pic of your kitty... it looked just like home except you need a follow up of it tipped over! I also want to thank you for idiot proofing the instructions. A good friend just got her first cricut and I actually said "be warned it will suck hours from your life and you'll wonder where they went." :) I feel like I'm always figuring out who to do what I want. Thanks for that push. Maybe I can become more productive?

I love these. So cute. I'm sure they'll be hit with their recipients. Our house the cat doesn't drink out of our cups (unless her water is empty) but she will be eating your food if you leave it for half a second to grab something especially anything meat, seafood, or dairy
What a fantabulous idea!!! These are so stinking adorable (and useful)...TFS!

Vinyl is so fun Easy on your blade too. Our cats used to turn on the facuets in the sinks so they'll have fresh coldwater. They knew which knob/lever was the cold one by watching us. Bad thing was they turn the water back off. LoL. Tasha mississchic @ yahoo dotcom
Oh my gosh I so want to do those cups, that is a super cute gift idea.
