Cricut Twinkle Toes "Love You" Birds Card

OK, so this is probably my favorite card I've made this year (ha, ha - only 6 days in...)!  This A2 sized card (4-1/4" x 5-1/2") came together in a snap once I got my sizing figured out.

A tip for the newbies:  Use the Fit to Length feature key on your Expression or Create to get just the right size you need on a project.  I used that to determine what size to cut the label shape behind the birds.

Speaking of label shapes, can you believe this one came from the Cricut Twinkle Toes Lite cartridge?  Be sure to look at your cartridges carefully - there are lots of labels and shapes on there that are parts of other images.  This one was supposed to say "Tiny Dancer", if you cut all the layers.

I cut the label shape ("tinydncr") from Twinkle Toes at 3-1/4".  Then, I ran it through the Cuttlebug using the Textile Texture embossing folder.

The love birds ("loveb") are from the Cricut Holiday Cakes cartridge and cut at 1-1/2".  Remember that the Cake cartridges work in any of the machines and you can use the images to cut paper.  Silver gems and glittered big brads are from Hobby Lobby.

I added a red button on my bow, then tied it with Martha Stewart baker's twine and added my sentiment from Papertrey Ink.  Button and ribbon by Papertrey Ink.

A finishing touch on the inside and we're done!  Paper was by Core'dinations and Basic Grey's Bittersweet line.

Be sure and check out Joy's and Melanie's personal blogs for more creative goodness at Obsessed with Scrapbooking and Courtney Lane Designs!

Have a great day! This post may contain affiliate links.

CARDS by SUSAN said...

Very pretty card. I have a confession. My husband gave my a pair of love birds for Valentines Day when we were first married. He thought it was so romantic! I HATED those birds. Messy and loud! My friend "bird-sat" when we were out of town one time and I "forgot" to get them out of the car after I got back from picking them up. One died, I guess it got too cold in the car. The other one somehow escaped from the cage a short time later and our bird dog caught it and had a snack. My husband to this day thinks I purposefully left the cage door open!
Oh, the memories
Thanks for sharing

I laughed when I read it was your favorite card you've made this year. It certainly is darling. Love all the extra little touches you put on your cards. Like the ribbon and then the string tie and the little tag hanging from it. Just darn cute and if I had either of those carts even I could make this. Oh yeah I'd need a cuttlebug too. So much to want. It's a shame I have to work or I could be card making and scrapping continuously.

Question... It says that Cake Cartridges can be used in any machine. I'm thinking of getting the cake cricut but buying different cartridges would be a little too much right now.

Can the cake machine use any cartridge?
I would guess yes, but haven't found the answer yet.
