Life is Good if you're a Panda

In December, my husband and I went on a romantic getaway to San Diego. I've always wanted to go there and it turned out to be the last big city in America that I hadn't been to - so, we braved the worst storm and cold they've had in years and had a blast.

Of course, we had to hit the San Diego Zoo, which is like hiking through a mountain range to get to the exhibits!  I've never seen a zoo like this - the terrain was something!  The pandas alone were worth the hike, as you'll see!

Anyway, onto the layout:

I used a few different cartridges on this layout - Cricut Pagoda for the Panda and flower, Cricut  Graphically Speaking for the "life is good" and the Cricut Songbird for the layered journaling tag.

The panda from the Pagoda cartridge was cut at 2" and his eyes made using a Signo white pen (love these!).  I love the baby panda in the center photo sleeping on his back in his hammock - so darn cute!

The Songbird cartridge is fantastic for it's set of eight or so shapes that are perfect for journaling boxes, card fronts, frames, etc.  This frame1 (shift version) is cut at 4" for the white and 4-1/4" for the green background.  I printed the text on a sheet of paper first, then carefully laid my journaling block over it and printed again.  It only took 3 tries....ha ha!  One time I smeared the ink...grrr!

This "Life is Good" is from the Graphically Speaking cartridge and cut at 2-1/2".  No shadows are on this cartridge unfortunately but the starkness of the white works here.  The flower was cut from the Pagoda cartridge at 2".

Paper is by American Crafts and Core'dinations.

Be sure and check out Obsessed with Scrapbooking (where I have my top Cricut cartridge awards for 2010) and Courtney Lane Designs, where Melanie has some gorgeous cards up using the new cartridges from December's Hello Thursday.

Have a great day! This post may contain affiliate links.

The color combination on this layout is so soothing to look at in contrast with the pandas themselves. You truly evoked the sense of seeing pandas in their own environment. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

The Pandas are amazing. On my visit there they were sleeping with backs to the visitors. I'm happy to see that they do occasionally wake up! Love your page about them!

Joy,
So glad you enjoyed our fair city. San Diego is great and when we locals complain about the cold whether, most people think we are crazy. We have adapted to usually having such wonderful whether that when it gets colder then 60 you will hear us sniveling. I live here and visit the zoo often. It really is a great zoo. We always take the tram or bus in one direction and walk the other. Hope you were able to do a little night life and beach time while you were here. Got to love those pandas.

Love the layout. I didn't go to San Diego Zoo when I had the chance. Now you made me regret it, I felt like I should have went, as you mentioned it was something different and it sounds amazing.

I love this layout. I too went to the San Diego Zoo and have a million pictures and have been struggling with how to scrapbook them. I am new to scrabpooking and even more of a newbee to using my cricut and this layout is just perfect! I love how this site gives such detailed instructions, which cartridges to use, so much details for a beginner like me to follow along and create pages! Thank you for your wonder layout and ideas!
