Bee Happy Sentimentals Card!

While making Friday's card using the Cricut Sentimentals cartridge, I came across this bee and the word art, "bee happy" and thought it would make a fun card for today's simple card Monday.  In fact, the more I studied the Cricut Sentimentals cartridge, the more little gems I found on it!

Today's square card was cut at 5" using the Card feature and the "label1" on page 68 of the Sentimentals  cartridge handbook.  I cut the card three times using yellow, white and black cardstock.  Then, I trimmed down the white and black sections to make an additional scalloped border along the the yellow edge.

I cut the "bee happy" and the bee at 1-1/2", also from the Cricut Sentimentals cartridge.  I cut the black wing layer twice. I glued down one layer and then created the second black wing layer by gluing on the yellow swirl parts and then just glued down the center section so I could fluff up the wings.

White pen dots adds interest to the "bee happy"- try not to smudge it like I did (grrr!).  Scalloped white circle cut using Papertrey Ink dies run through the Cuttlebug.

Using a black pen, I created faux stitching along the scalloped edges and the card edges.  I also used some pen marks to make a trail from the bee.

The inside is finished off using a bit of paper.  I made the white section inside by cutting down the white card I used to create one of the scalloped border edges.  I adhered it flush with the bottom.  Paper is by Basic Grey (Urban Prairie line).  Ribbon from Michaels.

I have an additional giveaway to announce this morning!  Have you seen the new Cricut magazine?

Well, the Northridge Media folks have given us two issues to give away here and two on Obsessed with Scrapbooking.  I have also written a review of the magazine over at Obsessed with Scrapbooking so head over there to check it out.  It's quite thorough.  To be eligible to win, leave comments on each post this week to maximize your chances and be sure to follow or subscribe to us!  That's it!

Melanie has a new project up at Courtney Lane Designs also so pop over and check it out - it's sure to rock!!

Have a great day! This post may contain affiliate links.

Your review of the new Cricut magazine was very detailed and informative. Before I lay out that much money for a magazine I want to actually see and review one for myself so winning one would be great. I, being a 'give me the exact steps' type of person would definitely want more detailed instructions for each project. I would love to see more layout examples and a few card techniques using the Expression and the older cartridges. There is no way that I can afford the price of an Imagine and have no desire to use a Cake machine so more examples of using the Expression would be my ideal! Oh,, and with minimal ads (which I realize contributes to the higher cost of the magazine).
