How to Use a Banner on A Card

Banners are all the rage these days, especially in scrapbooking and cardmaking.  I thought it would be fun to make a Christmas banner card.  And of course, I just can't resist a "Joy" card - so easy and so personal (for me, at least, LOL!).  The combo seemed perfect!

This 5" x 7" card came together in a flash once I figured out the papers I wanted to use.  That always seems to be the most difficult part since paper is so important.  I went with Stampin Up! Christmas papers (except for the holly paper from Making Memories).  Cardstock by my favorite brand, Coredinations.

I used the banners on the Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge.  If you haven't noticed them, take another look.  They are hidden in the font feature key and there are a number of different styles.  I am a sucker for scallops so I went with those.  I cut them at 2-1/4".  

Then, for the "JOY", I used the old faithful cartridge, Plantin' Schoolbook.  I wanted a bit of a more significant shadow layer but couldn't find one that would fit well on the banner.  I cut the letters and their shadows at 1-1/2".

Inside I added some decorative word art paper from Making Memories and a strip of dotted paper from Stampin Up!

This still left plenty of room to add a personal note.
