Hey there! This is Susan and I am going to interrupt Melanie's and Joy's Christmas postings with one more Thanksgiving project. I know, I know - you want Christmas! But I really want to share my all Provo Craft Thanksgiving hostess set! That's right, this entire set was created using PC products - the Cricut Expression, the YuDu and the Yourstory!
The set begins with place cards - Pilgrim place cards! The base card is from the Just Because Cards cartridge with a rectangle of printed cardstock on top. In addition to the ticket punched names, each card sports a gender specific pilgrim. I finished the place cards with Prima flowers, I-Rock gems, and white dots.
The second part of this great hostess set are wine glass identification tags. These are usually called wine glass charms, but since my set contains no charms I went with a name change. Using the Mini Monograms cartridge I cut a scalloped mat and plain circle top layer. Each of the six tags contains a individual Thanksgiving themed cut from the Thanksgiving cartridge.
I found an inexpensive set of wine glass charms at a local discount store and removed the charms. I replaced the charms with my Thanksgiving tags and voila! A new set of wine glass tags! Had I not found the cheapo charms set I had planned to go to the jewelry craft section at the local Hobby Lobby and purchase hoop earrings and a few beads. Either option would work equally well.
I decided to make the tags water (or wine) proof so I laminated them with the Yourstory! I then cut them out leaving a 1/8th inch border around the tags. I now have a product that I can use year after year!
The next piece of the hostess set is the decorated pumpkin (also from the Thanksgiving cartridge). The pumpkin started as part of my napkin embellishment, but the napkin looked too busy. I went with plan B and stamped the pumpkins with a cute Stampin' Up sentiment. I think the pumpkins look cute in the BIG empty brown plate! The sentiment reads, "a little Yummy for the tummy!"
The final piece in my hostess set are the pumpkin colored napkins. These napkins were featured on my blog (Busy with the Cricky) some weeks ago not too long after I purchased my Yudu. I love my Yudu. You might recognize the pumpkin on the napkin... It is the flourished pumpkin from the Thanksgiving cartridge. I cut the pumpkin with vinyl with the center cut out. I used the vinyl to make a screen for the Yudu screen print machine. I can't wait to make my Christmas napkins.... Oooh, maybe I could feature those here next month. It's an idea......
Finally - here is my dining table all set for Thanksgiving dinner. It is a shame that I have to "un-set" the table until next week. My hubby came through and told me it looked great!!! He also wanted to know why I was using dessert dishes as salad dishes. My response? Because I can! I wish each of you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving with your family and friends.
