I know today's Christmas project doesn't look very Christmas-y, but hear me out. You know how you have lots of people to give gifts to each holiday season? You need gifts for teachers, coaches, tutors, hairdressers, co-workers, church friends, etc. This year, I have over 10 teachers to give gifts to and that adds up really quick.
I saw the recipe for these cupcake-fuzzy-socks over at the Green Bean Crafterole blog. I thought it was the coolest, cutest, easiest gift I've ever seen! Besides this cupcake, Carrie (GreenBean) has tons more fantastic projects. She is incredibly talented and makes the cutest and most unusual things!! We are so lucky that she has agreed to be an upcoming guest designer here on Everyday Cricut!
Now, onto some quick details and then I will link you up to the clear, well written, step by step directions Carrie has provided on her blog!
The fuzzy socks are from Michaels and were $2.50 a pair, but you could use any fuzzy socks you find as they are on sale everywhere this time of year.
I used the Cricut Cupcake Wrappers cartridge and cut the butterfly2 at 2-1/2" (that's as big as it will go on a 12x12 sheet of paper). But, you can still make this on the baby bug using a 5-1/2" x 12" sheet of paper!
I carefully embossed the top white layer with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. It took some maneuvering to get the whole thing done but it worked out (wiggle, wiggle). Then I mounted the white butterfly section onto a solid pink layer. I love that this cartridge has two layers for each cupcake wrapper!
Next, I followed Carrie's precise directions for rolling up and securing the fuzzy socks. I stuck a red pompom in the top and tucked it into one of the folds. I worried it would fall out but it stuck! Then, I carefully fit the cupcake wrapper around the socks (more wiggling).
Finally, I wrapped the "cupcake" in a clear plastic bag I got at Michaels ($2.99 approximately for 12 clear bags). I tied it up with some ribbon and it's done! I will tape the cupcake to the envelope of a card when the time comes.
To find out exactly how to make these, step by step, and see more of Carrie's epic crafty goodness, head over to GreenBean Crafterole's Recipe for Fuzzy Sock Cupcakes!

Have a great day!
