Happy Halloween Card

Hi my name is Maria. I have been crafting my entire life and scrapbooking for the past 10+ years. When the Original Cricut first came out, of course, I had to have to the new tool of the block—but it wasn’t until I got my Expression--of course when it first came out--that I caught the “BUG”! Over the past few years, I have been blessed with many amazing opportunities in the scrapbook field. One of those was attending Summer CHA and meeting Joy and Melanie where they asked me to be a Guest Designer this week. I’m going to focus primarily on projects for Halloween this week. Thanks Joy and Melanie!

For Simple Card Monday I have a card that I made on the Gypsy, but can easily be reproduced if you don’t have one with only a few small changes. If you a Gypsy, I have added a file for you. Click HERE to get it.

The dimensions given below are if you don’t have a Gypsy:

The scallop square and rings are basic shapes and can be found on many cartridges if you don't have the ones listed.

Card Base—Just Because Cards 7”

Top of Card Base—Just Because Cards 7”

Rings (Silver)—Plantin Schoolbook, Discard Middle 1”

Rings (Purple)—Plantin Schoolbook Discard Ring 1”

Halloween Shapes—Pumpkin Carvings 1”

Inside Orange—7 x 7.5”

Scallop Square—Accent Essentials 2.5”

Boo—Pumpkin Carvings 2”

Happy Halloween—Happy Hauntings 1.0

Bugs—Happy Hauntings 7.0”

On the Gypsy file the holes are actually cut out of the black top layer to let the purple show through and there is no need to cut the rings in purple or the Happy Halloween in purple.

Sheer orange ribbon was added to the card top before adhering to the base. Scor-tape was put along the edge of the card. Instead of a pleat method, I used a pinching method to make the ruffle.

Since the paper I used to cut the orange Halloween circles had a white core, I used Copic markers along the edge of the circles.

Inside the card is a pop-up mechanism for the Boo element. Before adhering the orange inside the card I cut two 1.5” slits vertically in the middle of the card leaving 1” in between to make the pop-up mechanism.

Small orange crystals were added to the front of the card.
