Father's Day Gifts made easy with the Cricut

Hello everyone and HAPPY SATURDAY!!! It's Bryan the ScrapGuy here and do I have some great Father's day gifts for you.  Grab a cup of coffee and a bagel or a soda and some snacks cause I got a lot for you today.  I must admit that I was going to do a video as well but my battery died halfway through--I was so disappointed--pictures will have to do!

Gift #1--No #1 Dad picture frame using the new Holiday Cake Catridge

So in looking for ideas I found this frame at Michael's for a BUCK!  That is right folks you read me right--I said $1!!!! Talk about a deal! So I bought 4.  As soon as I picked it up I knew it would be perfect for this cut.
Photobucket

Photobucket
I used a sheet of paper with a map printed on it for the base.  I used some dark brown ink around the edges of the frame and picture hole to add some age and a manly rugged touch.  I covered the frame with Mod Podge placed the paper on the frame.  Using my craft knife I trimmed the excess paper and sanded the edges to give a nice clean SEALED edge.  For the photo window I put the point of the knife in the corner and cut towards the middle--after I did that i trimmed around the edges leaving enough to score, fold, and adhere to the inside lips of the frame for a nice clean finish.
Photobucket

I placed the cut and covered the whole thing with 3 coats of Mod Podge and let dry--THE LONGER YOU WAIT THE BETTER SO THAT IT IS FULLY DRY!  Once dry I added metal bling and some twine from Papertrey Ink--Won't this look great on any father's desk!!

Gift #2-Dad memory tin using Cricut Lyrical Letters and Cake Basics
Photobucket
I found this tin at Michael's as well for $2.99.  I used the papers from the DCWV Man Stack for this project and cut the word Dad twice using Lyrical Letters and did a faux shadow.  by using a cream base the words really pop.  I also did a little doodling with a gold gel pin.
Photobucket
The inside holds a wonderful little package of keep sakes any father would be joyed to get on that Sunday in June.
Photobucket

Photobucket
I cut the cards from chip board on my Cricut after altering a rectangle to fit and placed 6 on a 12x12 sheet. Once cut, I covered them with paper and a few embellishments.  You can add pictures  or gift cards.  They are two sided so you can have a picture on one and a gift card, a journal note, or even a drawing by your kids on the other.
Here are the fronts of a few of the cards:
Photobucket
and the backs where I used some CTMH stamps and a EK Success edge punch-
Photobucket
I love when the gift is the card as well! Makes it a little easier.

Gift #3 Happy Father's Day DVD case using Cricut Holiday Cakes and Cricut Basic Cakes
This one is super easy and could last close to a life time!  This metal DVD case I got from my mother--you can find them on the internet and ebay as well.
This is another gift that also serves as the card!
Photobucket
I cut a 4" x 12" strip of the plaid paper and scored it so it formed a rectangle belly band.  I used the Cricut Preserves Cartridge for the top note--it is actually a note card on this cartridge.  I cut four layers.  Solid black, metallic silver which i used the diamond plate cuttlebug folder to add texture, a printed paper   that has screws on it and a solid blue.  I used the same black and blue for the sentiment which is cut from the new Cricut Holiday Cakes Cartridge.
Photobucket
On the inside you can place a DVD of home movies, a CD of his all time favorite songs, or make it an annual thing and give a years worth of photos.  In the inside cover you can have each child sign their name and age, or write a short message to dad about why they love him so much!  Talk about pulling at the heart stings of any Daddy!

Photobucket

Hope these gift ideas help as there is just under one month until Father's Day!  Head on over to my blog and see a card to go with the picture frame!  I love to stick to a theme and I think you will really like the card!  Be sure to check back next week for some exciting new projects from Joy and Mel between Everyday Cricut and their personal blogs--they blow my mind with all the wonderful ideas!  I can't wait to see what they do with all the new Hello Thursday Releases!!!!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Bryan (AKA ScrapGuy)
