Wild Card Wednesday

Good morning everyone, Enfys here again with my wednesday cards. I was told I could make a card for any occasion today, but in keeping with the theme for the week, decided I wanted to make a really delicate wedding anniversary card - this one would be perfect for a silver wedding, or indeed for a wedding. Vellum would look fabulous over a red base card for a Ruby Wedding Anniversary, with a teensy red gem for the eye of the bird.
The bird and branch cuts are all from the Pagoda cartridge - branch page 47 of the manual, bird page 38 of the manual, happy anniversary sentiment - Sweethearts cartridge, page 70

I covered the front of a 6" square white scallop card with a silver patterned vellum
and cut a scallop border out of a 2" strip of white card

which I covered in a contrasting silver pattern vellum

which was attached to the left hand edge of the base card

Here is the mat showing the Pagoda cuts..............

.......which I inked with a bronze cats eye ink. The layers of flowers and the birds wing were attached with silicone glue. I use a brand called pinflair, which you apply with a syringe. Silicone glue does the same job as foam pads, adds dimension to a project, but has the advantage that it can be squirted onto really small areas, and unlike ordinary glues, it doesn't flatten as it dries, but leaves a clear blob of glue to firmly hold your elements together

I found these gorgeous flower picks in a florists suppliers - don't overlook these places as a fabulous resource for all kinds of embellishments to use in your crafting
You could make them youself though, all they are is a silvery pearl bead threaded onto silver wire and twisted

..................... I glued just one spray behind each flower

and attached it to the card, together with the bird. The sentiment was cut at 1 1/2" in a pearly silver cardstock, and shadowed in white. I used a pearl to dot the I

If I find a design I really like, I often reproduce it in other colours for a different occasion. Here, the plain linen aqua background and lilac colourways make a pretty and restful get well card. I added tiny lilac jewels to give a bit of sparkle. Papers are by Papermania UK, sentiment stamp is by Great Impressions

.................whilst the addition of some raffia lace, threaded with narrow ribbon, some stitching, and brighter colours make a birthday card suitable for a female of any age
Papers for the card are Dill Blossom by SEI

I know that a lot of the stuff I have been using this week is from the UK, I am flying the Union Jack a bit this week, we do produce some lovely craft products now. I have made up a package of some of the goodies used (such as the silver patterned vellum, raffia ribbon, the jewelled picks etc) and will give it away on my blog. All you need to do is hop over there and leave your name, and I will draw a winner next week. I have a separate goodie bag for my UK buddies.......

To finish today, here is a video showing some very simple ideas of how to jazz up simple Cricut flowers, quite basic, but it might just give you an idea or two

All your ideas for snow walking really gave me a smile yesterday, thank you. I was quite disappointed to wake up and find that it hadn't settled overnight, so no chance to practice all the new walking techniques - although the most sensible idea is to hibernate/stay inside and craft.

What is it with me and technology? Now my camera has gone wrong, the memory stick jams into the camera and has to be prised out with a tweezers. So I popped into the Sony shop to ask if they can put a new memory stick in, which would establish if it is the camera or stick at fault. No, they can't do that, the memory sticks are all in blister packs. Heated arguments later, they break open a pack and put in the new memory stick. Jammed.

'Sorry, we can't get it out, you'll have to buy it' they said brightly. WHAAAT? I don't think so. Their next bright idea was to send the camera plus jammed stick to be repaired - minimum charge £150 (about $230) plus the cost of the memory stick. WHAAAT? I don't think so.

So we all stood around scratching our heads until I came up with a brilliant idea. I'll buy another camera, but not a Sony this time. 'Can we have our memory stick back then?' Sure, take it out. Well, these hapless youths (without the benefit of my craft tweezers) struggled and prised for ages, whilst I stood there with a smug 'told you so' smile. In the end, after another long inter-departmental discussion about who would pay, one of them went to Boots (a pharmacy chain) and bought a pair of eyebrow tweezers, retrieved their stick, and I stomped out to renew my acquaintance with the guy in another camera shop who sold me the tripod on monday - funny thing is, when he saw me coming, he suddenly got very busy in the back of the shop. Sensibly (very unusual for me) I came home to do a bit of internet research into the best buy. Luckily, all my posts for this week are done and in the bag.................always assuming my computer isn't the next thing to go of course!

Don't forget to go over to my blog if you would like a parcel of goodies from the UK
See you all tomorrow, with a cute little mini album and a couple of videos

I love this card design. And I like that you showed it in different color schemes and occasion examples for us to see. Good look with a new camera, definitely do the internet research though. I found salesmen are not as relible as user reviews for products. But it is a very funny story.

Your card is lovely and I can see it used for many occasions with just a few change.
I really appreciate the video tour of how to embellish flowers. We all have all these supplies on hand so it will be fun the next time I use flowers to jazz mine up.

I love the cards and had to laugh about your experience with the camera. My mum is english and we spend alot of time in Emgland. I have had similar experiences at different shops. No matter what happens everyone is so polite.
