Woot Woot! Wild Card Wednesday with an Owl and Kitty!

Hi! It's Joy with our first Wild Card Wednesday, which means any kind of card in any shape, with any holiday or event or even blank inside!

Today's cards are both made using the Cricut Paisley cartridge.

The first card shown above (5" x 7" ) is created by cutting the cute owl on page 42 at 2 1/2", using all the layers, including the shadow layer. To clear up any confusion, I cut the "owl" using black paper, shift "owl" using the red polka dotted paper, "owl" with the layer 1 feature key (white eyeball parts) using white paper and then shift "owl" with the layer 1 feature key (feet and glasses) using yellow paper. Finally, I cut the "owl" with the shadow feature key using cream colored paper. The flower was cut using shift "owl" and the layer 2 feature key. The red stripes were cut using "owl" and the layer 2 feature key.

Got all that? Right-o....moving on now:

The layering happens like this:

1) Glue shift"owl" (red polka dotted paper) onto "owl" (black paper).
2) Glue "owl" layer 1 feature key (white for eyes) onto cut made in step one.
3) Carefully, place feet and glasses (yellow paper items) onto cut made in step two. This is tricky because the eyes don't want to line up and the glue wants to seep out.
4) Glue flower, flower center and stripes onto owl made in step three.
5) Glue owl from step four onto shadowed piece.

Next, cut out the "woot" on page 43 under the Word Art feature key and "owl2". Cut at 1" and do this for both the word and the word shadow. Make two complete "woots".

Layer card as shown above. Card size is 5" x 7" using a double sided kraft cardstock from Jillibean Soup. In fact, all the patterned paper used today is from Jillibean Soup. The scalloped square is also from Jillibean Soup and comes in a large packet of kraft colored journaling spots.

Create inside of card as shown above.

Now, onto the second card.

Oh, this poor kitty! I fear she looks a little under the weather. Anyhoo, onto the details here:

The overall card size is 4" x 9 1/4" and fits in a standard business sized envelope. The base of the card was made using Core'dinations pink cardstock cut at 8 x 9 1/4", scored along the 8" side at 4" and then folded in half.

Kitty was cut at 6 1/2". When I cut the shadow, it was humungous and would never have fit on a card font. So, I gave that up.

Here's what I cut and layered:

1) Cut "cat" from page 73 at 6 1/2" in pink patterned paper from Jillibean Soup.
2) Cut shift "cat" at 6 1/2" using white paper. Cut off ears with scissors. Layer onto cat from step one.
3) Cut "cat" using Layer 1 feature key (same size as before) using black paper. Layer onto cat from step two, being careful to line up tail and ears nicely.
4) Cut shift "cat" using Layer 1 for the crown and tassels/cording on pillow. Glue onto cat from step three.
5) Cut "cat" using Layer 2 for the collar. Glue on cat.

I also added some rhinestones to the pillow and to the cat collar.

Finally, I added some white paper inside and punched out some photo corners using pink polka dotted paper. I have left a sentiment out of this as I will decide on that later.

Be sure and check out Tammy's layout tomorrow....it's very unusual! And, if you didn't get a chance to see Melanie's super cute bag from yesterday, scroll down one post - it's fabulous!
